PIECE OVERVIEW

Vault Piece 115 | “The Himalayan Ember” | Nepal, Himalayan Region
There are specimens that command attention through size alone, and then there are those that seem to hold a presence of their own.

Rising from the Himalayan mountains of Nepal, “The Himalayan Ember” is a substantial natural quartz cluster distinguished by its warm tangerine colouration, intricate crystalline architecture and remarkable depth of formation.

Across its broad natural surface, crystal growth rises and recedes in layers, creating a landscape of points, faces and recessed formations. The warm orange-gold tones move through the cluster with subtle variation, giving different areas of the specimen a different character as the light changes.

At nearly 30 centimetres wide, the formation has an unmistakable physical presence. Yet it is the complexity within that scale that makes this specimen particularly compelling — a natural composition that reveals more detail the longer it is observed.

Formation & Geological Details

Quartz forms through the crystallisation of silica-rich fluids within geological fractures and cavities, with individual crystals developing over immense periods of geological time.

“The Himalayan Ember” displays a complex natural cluster formation, with numerous intergrown quartz crystals creating a strongly dimensional surface. Its raw, unpolished condition preserves the natural faces, terminations and irregularities created during its growth.

The warm tangerine colouration is one of the defining visual characteristics of this specimen, contrasting with areas of clearer and more translucent quartz throughout the formation.

The term “Lemurian” is retained as part of the specimen’s established collector and trade description and refers to the characteristic growth and surface features associated with this style of quartz.

Rather than presenting as a single uniform crystal, this specimen has the character of a natural crystalline landscape — layers of growth developing into and around one another, with different formations becoming visible from different perspectives.

Display & Collector Significance

Presented on a bespoke acrylic metal stand, “The Himalayan Ember” reaches a mounted height of 32 centimetres, allowing the natural silhouette of the specimen to be appreciated while keeping the focus firmly on the crystal itself.

Its substantial width and height give it a commanding presence, while the 12 centimetre depth creates a pronounced three-dimensional quality across the cluster.

The refined stand provides a gallery-style presentation without competing with the natural formation, allowing the warm tangerine colouration and intricate Himalayan growth to remain the centre of attention.

But this is a specimen whose appeal extends beyond its measurements.

From one angle, the cluster appears almost illuminated from within, its warm tones gathering across the crystalline surface. Move around it and the structure changes — deeper recesses appear, individual formations emerge and layers that were almost invisible from the front reveal themselves.

It has the quality of a small geological landscape: formed slowly, shaped by conditions far beyond human scale, and preserved in the raw architecture created during its growth.

“The Himalayan Ember” is a substantial Himalayan specimen for the collector drawn to unusual colour, natural complexity and the quiet drama of a truly dimensional crystal formation.

A piece to live with, study and discover over time.
